Off the top of my head, I don't know if this cousin of the Water Bowline has been documented before.  So far, I don't see any glaring performance problems with it.

As you probably know, this cousin is harder to tie, easier to botch, harder to check, and harder to adjust.

(Well, at least the color-highlighting got into ONE of the 4 images.)

I have also played a bit with this knot, and it no doubt is among a clump
of playropes tied up (literally) with such records of fiddling, for bowlines.
My thought was that there is some mechanical stretch in the turns
and so it would balance the eye to put one in each leg vs. two in one opp. none.
I didn't think of a name for it.
