Yet another bowline-like loop.
« on: June 26, 2013, 07:43:05 PM »
Playing with the idea of interweaving a more complex collar structure within the nipping structure of alpineer s m. Tresse bowline (1), I tied the eyeknot shown at the attached picture. Not very simple a knot, that is true, but interesting nevertheless. The structural "balance" between the two parts of the parent "common" bowline, the nipping loop and the collar, is retained in this loop, I believe.

You'll get less bulky results with a single tresse.

   Thank you, alpineer,
After some tying and trying, I have seen that, if we want a collar structure as convoluted as the nipping structure, the single Tresse offers a too-simple base, and the double Tresse a too-complex one !  :)  Those two-line crossings, those "cross-garterings", are not easy things to manipulate, even when you have one line to trace their paths with, the one only leg of the one only structure ( the nipping structure or the collar structure) - so you can imagine what happens when you have two !
The "trick" with the two interlaced helices was meant to reduce the bulk, but sacrificed a large part of the original idea - and I am not going to say anything about what exactly it did to the simplicity and easiness of tying !  :)  However, this two-line squeezing "tube", around the penetrating returning eye leg and tail pair of lines, seemed an interesting development to me, so I thought I had to present this eyeknot, just as an example of what can be done - I do not believe it is the only possible, or the slimmest possible such knot !  :)
