I and a friend have been trying to tie Ashley's #793 with no success. I've come to suspect that there's an error in the diagram because of some asymmetries in the the crossings of the two cords, though I haven't been able to find any mention of an error on the internet. I'm hoping someone can give me some pointers on the knot or at least verify the diagram.
Thanks!

My ABOK has a couple of notes beside #794 : "different twists" and "this image doesn't help". I don't think this post helps you either, but hopefully one of the more experienced hands has worked it out ...

I've heard there are still errors in ABOK, it would be nice to find a list. Still, one always wonders whether the difficulty is in the instructions or the execution. Fortunately, I just got a bunch more cord today, so I can distract myself with other knots in between attempts at 793. Thanks for your comments Diana.

Have you tried to *correct* those, one by one (or so),
to see if that leads to success? Only scanning the start,
I see that for one end's three marks the other has only
two *un*-marks (or something like that), which I take
it what you're pointing to. (Sorry, but I don't feel like
chasing this one, in detail, myself.)

I wonder if you could try tying it like 790 but change it up in the O U pattern so it's O3 U3? Or is it O4?

Dan Callahan posted just such a list in 2005 for us:

(A lovely lad he is then, entirely.)
Another thread has a series of posts toward the end which contained more errata.

Yes, I tried that, but to no avail so far.

Good idea, I'll give that a try when I get a chance. Thanks!

Hello,
The Ashley's diagrams are sometimes confused !
Don't know if there are errors in #793 but I prefer to work on a mandrel for the cylindrical knots.
I use a mandrel with 2x4 pins.
Here are the tutos (pattern, path and knot) :
Don't hesitate to ask me if you want more precisions or if I made a mistake !
By the way, did you try #791 and #792 ? I don't see any difference between them, do you ?
For me it is the same knot...
