Title: Helical bend
Post by: xarax on February 19, 2012, 07:49:31 PM
I have met this bend by an indirect way, as I have described in (0). Of course, I was searching for it ("my mind was prepared for it"  :) ) for quite some time now, but I just could nt get it... Having seen that the open helical coil can replace the closed nipping loop as an effective nipping structure, I was searching for ways so that the midline bends presented at (1 - 4), could be transformed into symmetrical bends.
I believe that the gentle wide curves of the helical path the standing ends follow at their entrance into the knot s nub, would be beneficial to the strength of this bend. Of course, that remains to be proven by detailed tests. Anyway, the "Helical bend" presented here is simple, secure, looks interesting and is promising.
