Transfer 280,

Do you think it would be helpful to have a tutorial section on this forum?   ???

Especially if there was some way of porting good ones through to the Guild website.

The Guild does not seem to be overly endowed though at the moment with tutorial makers.

How would you suggest this excellent idea is 'mobilised'?

Hi Vince, Derek and Sky,

Thanks for the positive response.  I am not certain how it would work - I would have to work that out with Mel, Glenys and the Council.  I just thought I would pose the question.  Should I make this a different topic title?  Having your responses is very good and I am encouraged by what is going on with other sites, in particular KHWW.  Tutorials represent one good way of transmitting information in pictures (drafting, video and/or still digital photography) as well as words, apart from having that same information in our magazine, Knotting Matters.  Given that this forum is a web-site with access to words, pictures and sounds it seems reasonable to use as much of the available media as possible.  I am not certain of what limitations may be present from our web-hosts and whether we would need some separate storage - these would be questions for Mel and Glenys to answer, together with the Council making decisions as to any associated costs and access functions.  I will start to make inquiries...

SR ;D

Why don't you all bookmark http://khww.net   8)

You know you are all welcome to the site, after all what's the use of having
tut's spread all over the net ? the solution is there if you wish to use it  ;)

A lot of work has gone into that site so we would be pleased if you use it.
Not that you should abandon this corner of your's, but an occational wisit
woulden't hurt anyone, and maybe we could build up a bigger database of
tutorials together ?

All the tut's there is open for all, you do not have to register to read them.
But I think we would be happy to see you'r nick's in there none the less..

Regards

Hi Nils,

What a great idea, to bookmark the KHWW site.  Would it also not make some sense to have an alternative site to visit where maybe there are additional resources available?  I really like the KHWW site, and I am a part of it as you know.  I am trying, by asking the question should there be tutorials on this site (www.IGKT.NET) to widen the scope, ease the burden and share what is known from this site's members also.  This is not any sort of attempt to usurp KHWW's tutorials but an attempt to more completely share information - after all, if KHWW or even IGKT is down temporarily (as sometimes happens even on the best of sites) would it not make sense to have another string to someone's bow?

All the best,

Lindsey

squarerigger,

Looks like we're getting more and more tutorials added, but a month or two from now anyone looking for them will have a hard time finding them. There are three on the 1st page of Fancy and Decorative Knotwork:
http://igkt.net/sm/index.php?topic=1273.0
http://igkt.net/sm/index.php?topic=1149.0
http://igkt.net/sm/index.php?topic=1232.0

I think it would be great if someone put them all in a tutorial section. JMO

Also, if possible, maybe you could have this thread turned into a sticky. There are about 4 requests (OK, 3 of them are from me LOL) for this on the thread:
http://igkt.net/sm/index.php?topic=977.0

Thanks for anything you can do for these issues.
