the last time my browser crashed i had 61 open tabs (on one window, more in other windows) most of which were pages waiting for mentions in these round-ups. time to give my computer a break!
Suzen Millodot's latest book "Ornamental Knots for Beaded Jewellery: New Knots , New Projects, New Designs" published by Search Press, ISBN 978-1-84448-248-1 is out and I snapped it up. The problem as seen from a person with my collection of books is that with the exception of Guinevere's Necklace (a like Celtic inspired project) I have seen all of this before many, many times. There's dragonflies, pipa/teardrop knots, macrame necklaces and long button knots. Other than being written in English it could be just about any basic book you pick up in Chinatown. But then, just because I have 20 other books exactly like this (only not in English) does not mean that it's not something the anglophone market needs. If you've got your Lydia Chen collection, then only 1 or 2 Celtic knots are new. If you've seen Suzen's other books, and like the way she puts together projects, then get this one. If you're a practical knotter and want to get more into the decorative side or want to entice your friend with magpie tendencies (ooooh, shiny!) then this is not a bad place to start.

http://www.thenational.ae/article/20081124/FRONTIERS/417002697/1036an article worth reading in the Epoch times about Chinese knotting. while the content is not revolutionary, it appears actually original to the writer, plus they nicely print the Chinese characters and translate the terms as well as transliterate (romanize/pinyin) the terms.

http://rugbooks.blogspot.com/2008/12/new-titles-for-december-2008.htmlthis is another one of those wacky blogs that seem to make very little sense, slapped together with content from other sites based on a theme. this one a little more coherent than most, a human might even have composed some of the text, plus it's got pictures.
