Broach Loop
« on: November 21, 2014, 08:05:54 PM »
This Broach Loop is taken from; "The Knot Bible" Bloomsbury
Publishing Pic.

It can lead to different views on the subject of the alternative to the bowline or better; on the use of the figure eight pattern (ampersand) for a loop.

For that matter interested readers can click away to see Xarax's Ampersand TIB bowline;

From the book this is the selling pitch;

Sometimes it's hard to appreciate the beauty of what we've got until we
see the alternative. For instance, what would a strong, secure, general
purpose loop look like if we didn't already have the bowline ?
The broach loop is one possible answer, and it is arguably at least as strong
and secure as its better-known rival. An alternative for ultra-slippery ropes.

I tried these 3 Lee's loops;

The second seems more in the spirit of the Broach loop.

The thirh present a higher degre of difficulty but seems indestructible.

I took the liberty to change slightly the "finish" of the first one in order to obtain more parallelism.
