Many books imply that the Transom knot is the Constrictor; this is wrong,
at least in the sense that if one removes the Transom-bound objects, one
has a Dbl.Overhand remaining, in a Strangle form, whereas a Constrictor
evaporates like its cousin the Clove hitch. However, there is some better
relation of the T. to the C. in terms of actual, effective geometry of the
loading, as in the T. use the S. is kinda spread wide.
FYI, the Anchor Bend / Fisherman's Knot is a Dbl.Oh., too (in a different
arrangement, yes).
