Clifford W. Ashley, author and illustrator of The Ashley Book of Knots (ABOK),
created many original knots along side the multitude of historical knots he presented.

One of those original knots is shown on page 391 and referenced as ABOK #2445.

A magnificent design, ABOK #2445 is effectively a simple modification of the Flower
Knot. Still many refrain from tying it on account Ashley?s illustration shows all, except
how to hold and tie the knot in hand.

As a nod to Ashley and the knot he created, the following video shows how to tie his
creation, in hand.

p.s. If the spirit of Clifford W. Ashley happens to get wind of this video. Thank you for
your tireless work. The reason we see so far, is because we stand on the shoulders of
giants. And you dear sir...were a giant worth remembering.

Lovely.

Though I found it harder to follow than your other videos.  Two areas confused me:

1.  You put the twists into the cord (to form the double loops) fairly quickly.  Several times, until I got the hang of it,  by the time I had worked out what to do, the video had moved too far on and I was lost.

2.  A couple of times, towards the end, I was not sure whether it was the working end or the original standing end that you were feeding back into the knot.

Yet another beautiful "fusion" knot though!

One other thought, when I did manage to put the twist-loops into the knot, my rope was fighting me.  It did not want to form into the twist-loops.  I'm wondering if we could perhaps devise something that would remove this difficulty.  Perhaps by putting some twists into the rope before we start?

Edit: Tried this, but it caused more problems than it solved.  A better method was to put a twist into the rope after feeding each bight into the previous loop.  The bight would then form more easily into the twin-twist-loop.

@ Sharky

I owe so much to Mr. Ashley...

I spent nearly ten years systematically tying nearly all the knots he presented in ABOK. My understanding of knotting techniques, my desire to teach others, and the freedom I feel to create new knots, all comes from his guidance and example. For me he is the dearest teacher I never met.
