I was thinking about Brian just the other day. His precision with respect to knotting and his dedication to learning all he could including learning Japanese and Chinese in order to more effectively study the topic and honour the cultures involved was inspiring. It was always in the back of my mind to meet him someday. See his mizuhiki, have a conference where he could teach... Although we never met or "spoke" about subjects other than knotting, I will miss him.
I had never seen his photo stream (
www.flickr.com/photos/briangrimley/) before and they are beautiful. You can see why he willingly lived in "the middle of nowhere"-Ontario.
