If one were faced with joining some ends of springy-slick
polypropylene rope,
Ashley's #1452 dressed & set jammed
might be just the knot --secure, but able to be loosened & untied
easily (the likely circumstance in rope not getting heavy loading
relative to it, even, and not to your manual strength).
