Hitching a Bowling Ball

I'm planning on carrying a bowling ball up a mountain for a (hopefully) unique photographic sequence. Now, I could just put it in a big bag, tie the bag off with something like a constrictor, and hang the bag off my pack--and this works--but I was wondering what the most efficient way to hitch to this round, polished surface using only paracord might be? My current best bet was essentially to use the "paracord bottle holder net" that somebody demonstrates here: http://www.instructables.com/id/Paracord-Bottle-Holder-Net/

Is there some better way of grabbing onto or netting a heavy, waxy globe? Ideally, in a way I can easily get the ball out and put it back in after my summit league game? And no, a giant monkey fist is not the answer I'm looking for.

For the record, I have more or less unlimited paracord, and the bowling ball is 14 pounds.

The Jury Masthead knot might work. In the following link stop at step 8 (you're not making the mat) and you have 3 bights plus 2 ends which can be knotted to form a fourth bight.  Place your ball at the centre and run a cord through all 4 bights, extending them and drawing them up to the top of the ball. I've never tried this with thin cord around something as large and heavy as a bowling ball but it's worth a try as long as you're careful to test before lifting the ball off the floor just in case!

Hello Paean Perplexed and welcome.

Interesting knotting need indeed.
I would probably take the easy road with a sack or net of some sort, tied at the top with a sack knot of which there are many. Even a bottle sling knot will do. I would choose one that tied and untied easily and that would have enough left over to either attach to a belt, pack or to make a sling/handle with.

Now for strictly using cord, that is another story. I would make a ring (3 or 4 rounds) of the cord approx. one half the major diameter, then half hitch around the ring to unify them, after which I would lace the remaining cord through the ring or half hitches leaving long ,equal bights to form the attachment or handle.
Uses quite a bit of cord mind you.

Another idea is to make a net.  Using the grommet start
