Pretties

Two things to report from the decorative knotting front:
- a new book "Celtic Knots for Beaded Jewellery" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1844480542) by Suzen Millodot has come out.  Some Carrick Bend (double coin) based projects are covered, plus the prolong knot, the braid knot, a figure eight chain, a nice flat heart, and more.  The single strand button knot is covered again (featured player in Chinese Knots for Beaded Jewellery (http://chineseknots.com/).

- The latest (Spring 2006, vol 4 no 2) Polymer Cafe (http://polymercafe.com/) has an article about tying knots in polymer clay (monkey fists).  Basically, a flexible version of polymer clay (she uses Premo Bake and Bend, but earlier in the magazine Sculpey Super Flex is mentioned, perhaps either would do) is mixed half and half with regular polyclay, it's extruded into thin "ropes" (North Americans of the right age can think about the playdough barber shop 8-) baked and then knotted.  The knots are then used as beads in jewelry.

I did buy the "Celtic Knots for Beaded Jewellery" and find it a pleasing book. Not spectaculair but a lot of nice necklaces and alike.
(But the people who have her "Chinese Knots for Beaded Jewellery" might want to have a good look before buying, I am told that many projects are much alike.)
