« on: May 30, 2006, 07:29:31 AM »
Can anyone point me in the right direction, e.g. web sites, publications, re the making of chest Becketts? A mate of mine has just started making them and is after as much info as possible. I'll get him onto this site yet.

Hi Sledge,

I have a few on my website, not the traditional "Hervey Garrett Smith type of beckets" but they are beckets. They are the grommet type of beckets. Hope this will help.

click on the Projects button

on the page presented there are two buttons (amongst a few others) that will lead you to the becket projects

take care

Hi Sledge,
The Ashley Book of Knots has photographs of 12 different beckets as the "end papers" (editions prior to 1993) and all editions have the list of knots in each design (seen in the photographs) as text and drawings in the 41st chapter.  Working from there, with the cross references to knots in the book, each becket can be reproduced.  Other designs are referenced throughout the book.  All of the photographs are of knot work that was "old" in 1944, ABOK's first edition.  If you get Knotting Matters (magazine of IGKT) you will see some wonderful new beckets, also visit the gallery of IGKT-PAB, KHWW and the links found at both sites.
