Hi Struktor

I think there are two, plus the four corner lines making a total of six.

I agree - there seems to be a 16 bight 3 lead Turks Head in the centre which stands alone (same as the 16B 3L TH in the second website pictures) but is then interwoven with the larger part of the "mat".

My solution   :)

1 x B16L2     (5)

4 x B4L1      (1,2,3,4)

1 x boundary  (6)

4 x corners   (7,8,9,10)

1 x pelta     (11)

=>

1+4+1+4+1=11

Hi,

If you look in the Gallery on the main website: Members' Work, Decorative Knots, page 4, you'll find a tied version named Leonardo's Knot.

I'm sorry, my phone doesn't let me cut and paste in text boxes.

Leonardo da Vinci, Head of Leda and Studies of Coiffure,  Royal Library, Windsor.

Leonardo returned repeatedly in his artistic and scientific works
to the theme of the knot, the plait, and the vortex, as derived from Verrocchio.
A pattern of spiralling motion, evident as well in the elaborate hairstyle,
provides a unifying element to the figures of the woman and the swan,
as well as to the botanical details of the background.
