Are there any alternatives to the barrel hitch that are more permanent and less likely to slip? For instance, to carry a backpack when the straps have broken off.
That's a tough one without some idea of what shape the pack is and if there are any potential anchor points. If you have an image of of the target object, that may help generate ideas.
