passing of Roy Chapman
« on: August 16, 2014, 01:41:32 AM »
Hello all,
I have just been informed of the passing of long time knotter Mr. Roy Chapman of Coupeville, Washington. I have no details to share but I do know from emails I received from him a few days ago that him and his wife were having health issues. Roy was a good friend and always active in promoting the art and craft of knotting. I will miss him a  great deal and wish his family well.

A sad day indeed,

Our condolences to his lovely wife, Alice, whom he adored so greatly.  Roy is an innovator and a prolific user of knots both practical and decorative.  We shall all miss him.  Rest in peace Roy.

Sorry to hear that. Roy was always a great source of ingenuity and was always entertaining here on the forums.

He will be missed.

It sad how you can think of someone so frequently, but life gets in the way of reaching out to them.

Roy was a dear friend and I know that he is missed dearly by many. I recall many a long conversations with him; he loved to talk, sometimes about the most random of things. And he indeed loved his Queen; Alice.

Last night as I tied my 100th turks head on a T I thought of him and wanting to share the moment with him, so I came looking for a new email address and found this instead.

No matter... Hey ROY... I tied my 100th of these horrible knots and yes... I still mess up every one of them in the same damn spot.

You are missed my friend.

Was going thru looking for something completely different and got gobsmacked by this little bit of info.  A true character and an interesting gentleman to boot.  He will be missed.  Thank you, Joe.
