Forensic Knot - Photo 3
« on: May 26, 2015, 06:32:31 PM »
I have several pictures of a Knot which was tied/used in a Crime. I would like feedback on its characteristics, However, since the upload file-size on this forum is only 100kb, I can't seem to upload any images. Does anyone have advice/suggestions on how i might get some feedback on this knot, i.e. these photos of the knot.

thank you,

Spatio

I hope that in one of the photos, at least,
the knot is shown clearly.  So far, I've seen
images that suggest the impossible : an odd
number (5, i.p.) of ends.  !?  In the image of
this thread (#3, is it --and I've seen so far just
on other, on this typing), I posit a trio of ends
on the left side --the upper two nearly in the
same visible space, but the combination being
just two wide to be a single strand/end.

Given this, though, I'm at a loss to work all of
these SIX ends through so small/compact a knot!!?

Also, we have not been (have we?) given indication
of what lies beyond the knot --i.e., are any of the ends
in fact the same strand (legs of an eye, e.g.),
or do we actually have a trio of pieces of cord,
knotted somehow (possibly --likely, given how
compact the knot is-- with one or two pieces
simply passing through the knotted 3rd piece).

thanks for the Response...
attached is another photo.

to make things clear;

this photo has Two knots. The Larger is the One in Question, and is the same knot which is shown in ALL the other photos (at different angles).
on the larger One, keep this in mind on the Attached Photo:
The Bottom string on the left side of the large knot was the ligature which went all the way around and it Came Into the same Knot from the other side - you'll notice only One string coming into the knot from the right side.
The Top Two strings on the Left side of the Large Knot were "dangling free". They apparently had no purpose other than to somehow Bind the whole Knot together.

Hope that helps. I can get closer-ups
Thanks Spatio

The bottom Knot appears to have been a "remainder" Knot, tied from the String left-over from the Larger one. Smaller Knot was somewhat lose and appears to be just a simple double-knot
