It seems the reproduction works but I'm not convinced. Either way it is an amazing artifact - having had the "rifling" cut into the holes with just a sharp stone. Even if you were a very skilled bone worker I wonder if the effort would be more than making hundreds of meters of rope by the traditional rolling and twisting that was used by "stone age" cultures?
