yChan's Knot - Ellie 1 Loop Knot
« on: August 28, 2018, 05:47:42 PM »
Hi dear all,

I have tied a knot here Ellie 1 Loop Knot for comment. It is a Loop Knot and also a decorative knot, easy to untie by pulling apart the SP and WE.

Happy Knotting

Thanks for your presentation yChan.

You know, I counted your use of the phrase 'loop knot' 6 times in this post! (including the title and the image).
Presumably, you feel that it is a 'loop' knot.
I guess you and Derek would get along just fine  ;D

As for the claim 'easy to untie' - what load did you apply?
I will try to test it today (if I find time) - these kinds of structures are very interesting.

Thanks for your good work :)

EDIT NOTE: I just tied this eye knot and applied load (just hand/arm strength pulling).
It transformed into a stable dressing state that it very interesting.
I will try to photograph and post the image here later today.
The dressing that I discovered potentially differs from yChan's depiction (hard to see fine detail in yChan's final image).
So I cant be certain that yChan's final dressing matches the form I ended up with (sorry).
But, this is quite remarkable :)
It has a structure that is based on 2 inter-woven crossing hitches (#206) - very close to the #1439 derived Carrick eye knot.

Hi dear all,

To get this knots (Ellie 1 and 2) in the right form as shown. Please follow the steps:

Complete the tuckings (shown in photo). Flip the WE to the opposite direction, that is both ends pointing north and south. The whole components then transformed. Turn the WE at 180 degrees(backwards) and grasp the SP. Dress to tight the knot. Then you get it right.
