Bushby's drawing technique, first a pencil passage and later the pen is efficient and fun to observe.
There is some similarities with the rendition of knots found in Ashley's book that are baffling!

v3:136 has even graceful crossing out of upper-left
text, and then many pp. of "pointing" fine illustrations.

v4:180 & around are some nice closed-curve/topological
knots (and somewherElse there is a dense presentation
of maybe Tait's? knots that has such grace of pen).

Efficient is precise I think, for me Art would be penning directly without the pencil sketch underneath. Japanese Calligraphy.
But dont get me wrong I appreciate his drawings fully.
Are these images the ones you were speaking about?
You have a good eye having selected 3 differents moods of drawings.
