Knotting Tool for yarn business
« on: June 07, 2019, 08:12:50 AM »
Hello there! I?m actually a business owner and I?m trying to find a tool that will do an overhand knot with two pieces of yarn. I own a very small dyeing business and spend a great deal of time tying overhand knots in order to keep the yarn neat and tidy. For each skein of yarn I have to tie three knots over hand and I find myself spending more time tying knots than dyeing yarn. Any devices would be very helpful.

Probably not practical for your application, but hay balers have a mechanical knotter that ties an overhand bend (aka European Death Knot).

Do the knots need to be untied again?
Or do you just cut them to free the yarn?
Do the knots hold the yarn together while it is dunked in the dye?

I am just wondering if there might be a knot that serves you better.
