100+ knotting projects
« on: June 13, 2020, 11:27:51 PM »

In 1965 a U.S. Navy Bosun's Mate introduced me to knotting.
I have learned from many other experts since then.
No one in my family shares my interest so I wrote down
a few of my favorite projects .  If interested click on link.

Your instructions are always clear.  Keep up the good work.   :)

Knotting is a specific activity and hobby. ;)
The main thing is that you like, and in any case, your audience will find you.  8)
So, do not give up and look forward to further projects. :)

Thanks Asemery,

I have added one to my list and am going to make a few for gifts this year.

The sailors whisk and I will also do a monkey fist door stop using the same manila rope.
Which I am sure you have done.

I just need to figure out the core. I have tried a tennis ball filled with garden stones but it wasn't really heavy enough.
And I don't have concrete balls or canon balls lying around, but I will figure something out. Anybodies thoughts or ideas will be welcome.

Cheers
Greg

Hi wysper.

I have made a few by taking some old rubber balls the kids no longer use, cut a hole and filled them with cement. After curing I cut them off.
If the fill hole is large enough it will leave a flat spot that will be nice to use as the bottom of the wrapped stop.
Or, sometimes the hobby and /or garden supply stores sell them.
Hope this helps.

Hi SS

That is a good idea, maybe I will try filling old tennis balls with concrete.

Cheers

Hi wysper.

I'm thinking that you'll need something larger than tennis balls to provide enough weight to stop a door.
Some toy stores (or big unnamed stores) sell inexpensive plastic kick balls of various sizes.
