Now that I did some research, calling the knot by name 96-bend is somewhat ambiguous because the name applies to Hunter's Bend as well.

No, SmitHunter's joint is of same-handed overhands,
and so to a '9' would match a 'd', or 'b'/'6' & 'P'.
(Which is not to say that you might have found some
mistaken reference.)

I looked at e.g. animatedknots.com. I was thinking about the numbers as two-dimensional objects, but if we think them as three-dimensional and give them handedness, then there is a difference. So we could define a left-handed loop is 9 and right-handed loop is 6. Besides as geometrical property, I mean that the tails are also pointing in opposite direction in the knot.
